As you pass the Eagle topped pillars and enter the 312 acre Buxted Park, sweeping down the
long drive past the cricket pitch and 13th Century Church, you can almost imagine Wordsworth
eulogising its beauty on one of his many visits here. Now as then the river Uck meanders gently
through the estate, fallow deer roam free, lakes teem with fish, enchanted woodlands remain
untouched and at the centre the formal gardens of this wonderful palladian mansion.
Guests are invited to explore the formal gardens and surroundings. There are always welly
boots at the front door if you prefer to save your Jimmy Choos and there are mountain bikes and
maps to help you find your way. Buxted Park is renowned for its Bluebell woods, azaleas and
rhododendrons. The eleven acres of formal gardens are a veritable horticultural encyclopaedia with
formal roses, specimen trees and shrubs, ornamental ponds, orange and lemon trees, spectacular
daffodil avenues, wild flower meadows, a stunning summer sunflower display and some secluded
terraces on which to take it all in.
