Restaurant & Bar
In a house rich with history, you shouldn’t be surprised to learn that eating and drinking here is also rich with variety.

Whether eating your evening meal gazing up at the chandeliers in Culpeper's restaurant or snacking in the lounge or reading room, fine food and drink will be the icing on your weekend cake.

Al Fresco dining is also available either on our terrace or in basic or luxury picnic hamper form. For the more private among you, either enjoy all your meals in the privacy of your bedroom, or make use of one of our stunning private dining rooms for your exclusive use.

We are more than happy to welcome children into our hotel and hope they enjoy the variety of dining as much as their parents. We provide highchairs in all our eating areas and our chefs understand that a child’s idea of fine dining maybe somewhat different to your own and are happy to adapt their cooking for each child’s needs whenever possible.

You may recognise our head chef from his co-hosting of the Food TV Channel. His excellent knowledge and years of experience put him in the perfect position to not only educate viewers on TV, but more importantly, serve his fantastic cooking to our very important guests.

Being a local boy, Gareth is proud to use local and seasonal produce for his dishes and has even been known to grow his own produce. He describes his food as classic English with a modern twist. He offers new and imaginative ingredients to traditional favourites, only enhancing your enjoyment of them.

Culpeper's Restaurant itself is very traditional in style. With its draped curtains, antique furniture, white clothed tables and special silver cutlery, the feel of Culpeper's is one in keeping with the feel of the house - Traditional. With its two open fireplaces and views out onto the grounds, you will feel like you’re dining in a scene from an English period drama. We’ll swap drama however for relaxation. Despite the grandeur of the setting and the décor, we aim to provide you with an evening of enjoyment rather than of pomp and ceremony. Enjoy the grand setting but feel right at home - that’s one of our Hand Picked philosophies.

The Lounge and Bar

For lounge dining, feel free to relax with a lighter snack menu in the Lounge or the Reading Room.
The newly refurbished Lounge has a new look - modern, yet furnished with antiques to accentuate the beauty of each piece.  With its stunning brown and cream marble floor, mirrors and pillars is a great place for a relaxing snack and afternoon tea. Enjoy your food whilst sitting in one of our comfy chequered sofas and watch the mesmerising flames of one of the open fires.

The Bar is off the lounge and gives you a relaxed space to enjoy a pre or post dinner drink.

The beauty of our amazing country house is that we have a multitude of rooms that we can use for your dining and drinking. We are happy for you to eat and drink in whichever room you find most comfortable.

Al Fresco Dining

The terrace outside the main restaurant and the Hussey Hall houses teak tables and parasols if you fancy a little food al fresco. If you prefer to wander the grounds or the surrounding area, we can also offer you a basic or luxury picnic hamper to take away with you to enjoy.
